1 Before you use it

What it is

Metadata only. A standardised, commercialised version of the Star Excursion Balance Test using a purpose-built kit, with anterior, posteromedial and posterolateral reaches on a fixed apparatus.

The standardisation is genuinely useful. The kit and the trademark are what put it in the red tier.

When to reach for it

When a service already owns the kit and uses the protocol. Otherwise use SEBT with tape — same construct, no kit.

2 Giving it

Scoring

Reach distances normalised to limb length, reported per direction and as a composite, with side-to-side asymmetry.

What it doesn’t measure

Reactive control. Same limitation as SEBT.

3 Reading the score

Interpreting it

Is the change real?

MDC 7.7% to 13.7% of limb length. Compare the change against this patient's own baseline as well as the figure. SourceMeasured in a musculoskeletal screening sample.

Student trap. Calling a taped floor test a Y-Balance Test. If it's tape, it's the SEBT — name it correctly.

Licensed through functionalmovement.com. We don't host the form.

Use instead: SEBT — same construct, no licence.

This is a learning tool. It does not diagnose patients and does not replace your clinical educator.
