1 Before you use it
What it is
WOSI's sibling, built for rotator cuff disease. Twenty-one visual-analogue items across physical symptoms, sport and recreation, work, lifestyle and emotions.
When to reach for it
Rotator-cuff-related presentations where you want more depth than SPADI, and post-operative cuff repair follow-up.
2 Giving it
Scoring
Summed 0–2100, reported as a percentage of normal. Lower is better.
What it doesn’t measure
Instability — use WOSI. And it takes eight minutes, which on a busy list is the real reason SPADI usually wins.
3 Reading the score
Interpreting it
Interpret against baseline.
More granular than SPADI, and it captures work and emotional domains SPADI doesn't touch.
Is the change real?
Student trap. Choosing it over SPADI on a busy outpatient list and then not getting it completed. The best PROM is the one that actually gets filled in.
This is a learning tool. It does not diagnose patients and does not replace your clinical educator.
