PREE · Patient-Rated Elbow Evaluation

20 items · 5 min · 0–100 · lower is better

1 Before you use it

What it is

The general elbow version of the PRTEE, from the same author. Twenty items — 5 pain, 15 function — for elbow problems that aren't lateral tendinopathy.

When to reach for it

Post-fracture elbows, olecranon bursitis, ulnar collateral ligament injury, stiffness, and any elbow that isn't a lateral tendinopathy.

2 Giving it

Scoring

Pain (0–50) plus function (halved to 0–50) = 0–100. Lower is better. Same halving step as the PRTEE.

What it doesn’t measure

Range of motion — which in a stiff post-traumatic elbow is the measure that matters most. Record flexion, extension, pronation and supination in degrees, both sides.

3 Reading the score

Interpreting it

Interpret against baseline.

Is the change real?

No verified MCID or MDC is carried in our library for this measure, so the number on its own cannot tell you a change is real. Compare it to this patient's own baseline and say what changed functionally.

Student trap. Using it on a stiff elbow and not recording degrees. This is a symptom score — the range is the other half of the story.
